SACT Groups

Details of the regional groups that oversee the safe delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT).

North Cancer SACT Governance Group (NSGG)

Overseeing the safe provision of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) in the North of Scotland, this group provides assurance and governance of compliance with CEL 30 (2012) Guidance for the Safe Delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT).

The group brings together cancer leads from across the NHS boards in the region to provide strategic direction to the SACT sub-groups noted below.

The group oversees the implementation of the National Governance Framework for SACT services which includes the mandatory audit of all sites across the North Region where SACT services are delivered.

Further information is available on the Healthcare Improvement Scotland website.

The group will also provide direction on any general issues highlight by members, primarily the SACT Delivery Group (NSDG). The NSGG is accountable to the North Cancer Clinical Leadership Group (NCCLG).

North Cancer SACT Delivery Group (NSDG)

Bringing together nursing and pharmacy leads from the six North NHS boards to work collaboratively to take forward the development of regional protocols and guidelines to support the safe provision of SACT in the North. This comes from the CEL 30 (2012) guidance for the safe delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT).

Where local board protocols or guidelines are in existence, these may initially only be available via local board document management systems and intranet sites.

A workplan has been created to monitor the progress of NSDG actions and is accountable against these to the SACT Governance Group (NSGG)

It is a key objective of the group to share learning and best practice among nursing and pharmacy teams in the North, and collate general issues affecting SACT service delivery in the North to highlight to the NSGG.
