North of Scotland Child & Adolescent Neurology Network

Clinical Leads: Dr Alice Jollands and Dr Elma Stephen

Network Manager: Fiona Collins

The North of Scotland Child & Adolescent Neurology Network (NeSCANN) provides services across 5 health board boundaries in the North of Scotland.  The network is well established, having been formalised at the time of the National Delivery Plan (2008-2011) when a variety of posts were funded across all disciplines (e.g. consultants, nursing, physio, neuropsychology and specialist dietetic staff) within individual Health Boards to sustain specialist children’s services across Scotland.

The network provides a mixture of cross board and locally based specialist neurology services to ensure person-centred, safe, effective, equitable care.  NDP funding was utilised to appoint locally based teams to provide secondary care, with tertiary support provided on a monthly basis in Aberdeen, Dundee and Inverness and twice yearly in Shetland and Orkney.

Staff within the network have access to a wide range of training opportunities, designed to support the development and sustainability of the network.
