Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS) is an exciting new project that is being embedded within the region’s Gynaecological Pathway to enhance patient outcomes and enhance holistic care. Shylasree Surappa, Consultant Gynaecologist, NHS Grampian said that with PROMS, patients will feel more engaged in their care and that any information collected should be meaningful to the patient.

The purpose of PROMS is to collect information from patients directly via a questionnaire or app about how well the health service is treating them, monitoring patient progress and symptoms that allow clinical teams to understand the difference that early intervention makes to a patients quality of life.

The PROMS Working Group continues to meet monthly and clinicians are working on the PROMS questionnaire and the data to be used in the database.

We are working with the University of Aberdeen to use software (REDCap) that is mobile enabled.

The Scottish Cancer PROMS Advisory Group continues to meet every few months. The group comprises of Scottish Government, NHS Scotland and Third Sector colleagues.
